Get ready with me for Lunar New Year—makeup edition. In this short, I’m doing a quick GRWM while testing an eye look with the ColourPop Mulan palette (the colors are so good). I already did my base off camera with the Armani Skin Tint and Urban Decay Naked Concealer, but the focus here is really the eyes: I take “Honor” through the crease, then deepen the outer corner with “True” (and yes… it goes on DARK, so blending is key). I line my eyes off camera, then show you the finalized look. While I’m blending, I’m also sharing what Lunar New Year has meant to me growing up—family friend parties, red envelopes (lì xì), and honestly being a little kid using my red envelope money to gamble with the adults in those classic Chinese dice games. I’m Cantonese, and my mom grew up in Vietnam, so I got to experience both Chinese and Vietnamese food traditions, which I 10/10 recommend. This year looks different because my mom’s in Vietnam visiting family, so it’s me and my sister doing our Lunar New Year’s Eve dinner, and I’m so excited to give my one-year-old niece her first “proper” red envelope. And mindset-wise: it’s the year of the fire horse. To me, that energy is confidence, racing toward abundance, and relentlessly pursuing your dreams—especially after the year of the snake, which was all about shedding what no longer serves you.
