Hey guys what is up, what’s good, what’s Gucci—this video is me jumping back on the Maschine MK3 after it’s been a minute (I literally hadn’t seen y’all since Halloween). I’m not doing a whole lot of talking in this one—I just get straight to it and build a silky smooth R&B vibe from scratch. I set the tempo to 90 BPM because I wanted something really smooth, something you can just chill to, and then I start laying the foundation with drums and simple musical ideas that feel good right away. As the beat comes together, I’m focused on feel—adding little pockets like a shaker to “shake it up a little bit,” then filling the space with some padding so it sounds full. Once I’m happy with the groove, I go ahead and arrange it because it’s one of those joints that’s actually “really nice” and could realistically get used or sold.
