About This Video

Hey y’all—this video is me getting back in the groove and making a hot, fresh R&B/hip-hop beat on my Maschine MK3. I set the tempo to 130 because that’s what I was feeling, then I start building the idea fast: drums first, then I stack sounds the way I like to—adding layers underneath the snare, underneath the pad, and even doubling the bass with a regular bass under the sub to make it feel bigger. It’s really about getting something that knocks without overthinking it. After I’ve got the core loop, I arrange everything right in front of you. I break it into parts (part one, part two), then map out an intro, verse sections, and the hook so you can hear how the beat moves like a real song. It’s a quick, simple service beat, but it still has that “heat” feeling when the sections switch. I also point out one thing I wish I did differently—just cutting out a spot for cleaner transitions—because that’s part of the process too. If you want me to sample something or build a specific vibe next, just let me know.
