They say the world is your oyster when you’re young… but honestly, who wants to eat an oyster alone? In this vlog, I’m taking you with me as my family and I travel through Singapore and Malaysia right after our Philippines trip. It felt surreal—like we were living in someone else’s story—because growing up, vacations were never really a priority for us. Now that I finally have the means to do it, bringing my parents (and my uncle, aunt, and cousin!) along felt like making a childhood dream real—especially because it was my dad’s first ever international trip. I talk about the very real “traveling in your 20s” experience: being broke half the time but also the freest you’ll ever be, walking 20,000 steps to save on cabs, getting lost on public transport, and still somehow splurging on food and random cute stuff. More than the itinerary, this trip reminded me that travel is a privilege—and that the best part is sharing it with the people who raised you. I also reflect on cultural immersion: noticing the little customs, the mix of languages, and how being open—through food, conversations, and curiosity—can make travel genuinely transformative.
