Hey! Hey! It's caramelly! 🤍 I'm in a toxic relationship... ...with physics. I can't believe it took me 2 years to finally talk about my journey with physics. Thank you so much for being patient with me. Also, I might have yapped too much in this video so I hope you guys don't mind lol. This is now the longest video I have uploaded in this channel thus far. Anyway, hope you enjoy this video! And...sorry for the clickbait. Hope it was effective at least lol. 🍃 CHAPTERS: 0:00 - intro 1:38 - chapter I 2:35 - chapter II 4:01 - chapter III 6:48 - chapter IV 9:37 - chapter V 14:03 - chapter VI 15:46 - chapter VII 17:28 - final thoughts + outro 🍃 SOCIAL MEDIA: Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/caramelly.zip TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@caramelly.zip Ko-fi page: https://ko-fi.com/caramelly 🍃 MY SETUP & GEAR: Canon EOS M50 - https://amzn.to/47Ux58e DJI Osmo Pocket 3 - https://amzn.to/4gZnkZv DJI Mic - https://amzn.to/47Ux58e Sony WH-1000XM5 - https://amzn.to/3ZajAgJ iPad Pro/MacBook Pro iPhone 14 Pro Final Cut Pro These are affiliate links, so I might earn a tiny bit of commission if you purchase through them. ☺️ 🍃 GET IN TOUCH: talktomsquareddd@gmail.com 🍃 TAGS: #physics why I chose physics, studying physics in college, physics undergrad to grad school, physics specialization, grad school vlog, life of a physics student, physics PhD student, physics grad school journey, physics day in the life, becoming a physicist, study inspiration, academic journey, physics career path, physics student vlog, graduate school life, caramelly, filipino international student,msu-iit,up diliman, wayne state university, physics basics, how to become a physicist 🍃 SUB COUNT: 3,229 🤍 Get me out of this jaiiiil! 🤍 watch this if you'd like some tea 🍵 🤍

About This Video

I have a confession… I’m in a toxic relationship with physics. In this video, I finally sit down (with a super refreshing coconut water matcha, because of course) and talk about my full physics journey—from being a science-obsessed kid in the Philippines watching Knowledge Channel, to building fun high school physics projects, to ending up as a Physics PhD candidate in the US. I also introduce myself properly if you’re new here: I’m Melly, a Filipino grad student, and this coming fall I’m going into my fourth year as a PhD candidate in physics. I share how I originally enrolled in education, got “accidentally” pushed into secondary education in physics because of a math subject mix-up, and then eventually made the scary decision to shift into BS Physics because I wanted to go deeper. I talk about choosing condensed matter, working on conducting polymers, interning at UP Diliman’s National Institute of Physics, and then teaching back at my alma mater as part of my DOST scholarship return service. Grad school became my escape from burnout, and now at Wayne State University I work in soft condensed matter on hydrogels and nanoparticle dynamics using fluctuation correlation spectroscopy. My biggest takeaway: physics is hard and it can make you feel dumb—but if you’re curious and you persevere, you can still do it (even while yapping through the struggle).
