Moab Never Disappoints! // Mountain Biking Captain Ahab, Eagle Eye, Slickrock // feat. Cobra Kyle

Made it back down to Moab to meet up with my old Texas friend Cobra Kyle! He brought a couple of his buddies from San Antonio as well, and we did some riding and hanging out over a long weekend. I missed the first day they were there due to work, but as soon as I got in we went to Captain Ahab, where we'd get caught in the rain, and HAIL! It was really small hail, though. None of us were hurt! The next day we rode two trails, Eagle Eye, and Slickrock. I must say, I didn't expect Slickrock to be so HARD! Not in terms of skills, but in terms of fitness. It's a lot of up & down, XC style, with STEEP climbs that you put max effort into. Those climbs wouldn't be possible on dirt, but the slickrock, in spite of its name, gives excellent grip! What do you guys think of the Hero 9 footage? There's a couple things I don't like. For one, I think even with my old gimbal that doesn't perform at the same level it used to, it still gives better, more reliable stabilization. There were many parts of Ahab I couldn't include in the video, because it was just a wobbly mess. And the hypersmooth doesn't work at all if you put an ND filter on to get motion blur, because it requires a fast shutter speed. So the lack of motion blur looks a bit weird to me. And then of course, the audio sucks, but the way I've been editing these videos with music over the riding parts, that's not as big of a deal. Anyway, I'll probably go back to the Hero 4 + gimbal, except in bike parks, where I'll put the Hero 9 on the chin mount. Want to fly for FREE?! Start travel hacking with credit card points.
