Travel doesn't always give you perfect weather. Sometimes the skies are grey, your clothes are soaked, and a monkey decides to use you as a toilet. But those are often the moments that stay with you the longest. When I think back on this day in Ishigaki, I probably won't remember the rain. I'll remember the monkey on my shoulder. I'll remember the road leading north. And I'll remember standing at Hirakubozaki, feeling like I was at the very edge of the world. That's a feeling no weather forecast can take away.
