This time, we traveled across half the globe to the other side of the world—Chile, a completely unfamiliar country we had never visited before. Chile is one of the longest and narrowest countries in the world. Today, we are in Santiago, the capital and largest city of Chile, where we will be staying at the InterContinental Santiago. The hotel is located in the prime area of the new financial district, and it took us less than half an hour to get here by taxi from the airport. The lobby is spacious, but you can tell it's a bit dated. After checking in, let's head to our room and take a look. Our room is on the 13th floor. The overall layout of the guest rooms feels quite compact, as the hotel has a total of 382 rooms. Upon entering the room, there’s a noticeable musty, old smell. The space is quite large, but it's evident that the hotel is showing its age. Many details in the room don't quite meet the standards of a luxury hotel. The furnishings are rather basic, and even the windows are quite dirty. However, the welcome gift was a nice touch. Next, we headed to another building where the Club Lounge is located. The lounge was decent, with not too many guests. We also checked out the swimming pool—while the facilities were fairly simple, the view was quite nice. Right next to the hotel is a Holiday Inn Express. Due to jet lag, we woke up starving at around 3 AM. To our surprise, the hotel offers 24-hour room dining service. We placed an order over the phone, and the food was quite good. One thing to note: the receipt includes a mandatory service charge. Breakfast was served in the restaurant on the first floor. The quality was quite basic—nothing impressive, but enough to fill us up. After breakfast, it was time to check out. Overall, our stay at the hotel was rather average, but just being in a new city was exciting enough to spark my curiosity. Goodbye for now, Santiago—until next time.
