Analog Snake

I’m still a fan of an old-school analog snake because it’s simple and it just works—channel one to channel one, end to end. I used mine for years recording drums, and it’s saved me in live situations when I need distance between the stage and the mix position. I’m personally wary of network-based solutions when I just need reliability fast.

Pros

  • +Straightforward, reliable end-to-end cabling
  • +Great for adding distance between stage and mixer (like 50ft runs)
  • +Durable cable that holds up in real-world environments

Cons

  • -Bulkier and heavier than some digital stagebox solutions
  • -Limited channel count depending on the model
