Harvard's Pardis Sabeti on stopping pandemics before they start

Pardis Sabeti, Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology and core institute member at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, is working to stop pandemics before they start. Her team at Sentinel has developed an early warning system for infectious diseases, built on locally-led pandemic prevention and co-created with partners across Africa. After receiving a $100 million grant from the MacArthur Foundation's 100&Change competition, Sentinel is scaling tools that detect pathogens anywhere in the world, connect that information across populations, and empower frontline responders to act quickly.
