About This Video

In this video I’m breaking down what computer stores don’t tell you when you’re buying a new laptop—especially those “cheap” ones that look like a bargain on the shelf. I was recently in Currys in England looking at laptops starting around £160 and going up to a few grand, and I’ll tell you straight: sellers often don’t explain the stuff that actually decides whether your new laptop feels fast or feels like a sluggish nightmare. I use a car/engine example because it’s the same principle. The CPU is the engine, and if it’s weak, nothing else matters. I tell you what to avoid (like Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium, Intel Atom, and a lot of the super low-power stuff) and what I consider the minimum you should start with (Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3). Then I go into RAM—Windows 10/11 needs at least 8GB, end of story—and storage, because 64GB/128GB is just asking for pain. My practical baseline for a decent everyday laptop is: i3/Ryzen 3, 8GB RAM, and 512GB storage, so you don’t end up coming back six months later angry and upgrading what they “forgot” to mention.
