My contract ended, my provider wasn’t keen to offer anything decent (classic), and in-store prices were honestly shocking. I was paying around £25–£26 a month, and the cheapest I was seeing directly was nowhere near what I knew must exist. Then I jumped onto MoneySuperMarket/GoCompare, filtered for SIM-only deals (I used 12 months and minimum data like 20–30GB), and suddenly I was seeing prices like £7.99. I also explain why some super-cheap MVNOs can be a bad experience: they rent bandwidth from the big networks, and that can mean slower speeds or worse priority—been there, it was painful. The big takeaway is this: those cheap deals often only appear when you click through the comparison site’s special link, because the network is giving that platform exclusive pricing. At the end I drop two extra money-saving tips: request your PAC code to trigger “retention” offers from your current provider, and treat loyalty as a myth—switch providers regularly (same idea for insurance) to avoid getting rinsed.
