About This Video

Your smart TV is spying on you — and I’m not being dramatic. In this video I break down ACR (Automatic Content Recognition), which can grab low‑resolution screenshots of what’s on your screen every 10–15 seconds and send them to the cloud. The whole point is behavior tracking, and the scary part is it’s not just “TV shows.” If you mirror your phone, browse private photos, or watch old family videos, that content can be captured too. If you’re in the “nothing to hide” camp, I explain why that mindset is basically living with your curtains open. Then I go practical. I organized fixes into levels, from “I know nothing about nothing” to tech wizards. The simplest wins: disable ACR in your TV settings (Samsung/LG/Sony/Philips, etc.), don’t buy a TV that has it, or just disconnect the TV from the internet completely. My favorite approach is to make your TV dumb again: keep it offline and run everything through a laptop/PC over HDMI (and yes, a wireless keyboard like the Logitech K400 becomes your remote). For more advanced people, I talk about tools like NetGuard/GlassWire, router parental controls, Pi-hole, and why blocking domains can turn into a cat-and-mouse game with things like DNS over HTTPS.
