About This Video

In this video I’m in Nipponbashi (Osaka) checking something people keep asking me: is it actually worth coming to Japan to buy electronics and PC parts in 2026, or is it just YouTube hype. This was my second visit, so I went store-to-store to show you what Japanese PC shops look like right now—multi-floor buildings packed with motherboards, CPUs, monitors, laptops, graphics cards, gaming gear, and even ridiculously comfy chairs. I also talk about the “duty free” pricing you’ll see as a tourist (you usually get two prices on the tag), and why comparing prices to your home market can be tricky, especially when a laptop model is made only for Japan. My honest takeaway: Japan is amazing to visit for the culture, food, and the whole tech/otaku vibe, but don’t expect everything to be insanely cheap. You might save some money on one or two items, but nothing too crazy—and you’re not realistically flying home with five laptops and five GPUs. Where Japan really wins is retro gaming and niche DIY electronics: if you’re hunting specific vintage consoles/games or weird little boards and devices for custom projects, these places feel like paradise. Also, I’ll always say it—being able to physically touch and check gear (size, weight, keyboard layout) is why real stores still matter.
