About This Video

Open earbuds are one of those “looks weird, works great” categories—especially if you’re on the go or you train and you still want to hear what’s happening around you. In this video, I tested three open earbuds across three price points: the CXK Open (cheap), the Talix AuraHalo G1 (mid), and the Shokz Opendots (premium). I break down my first impressions, build quality, comfort, battery life, and then I give you a real-world sound take from an average everyday user (I’m not an audiophile). What surprised me is that the most expensive option isn’t automatically the best investment. The CXK looks and feels like typical cheap plastic—with a gimmicky LED battery screen—but it grips harder and ended up being the most secure in my “flip test.” The Talix case feels more intentional but flexes when closed, and while it sounds richer with more bass, it didn’t hold as well during explosive movement. The Shokz has the best-crafted case and arguably the best sound profile—premium, in that Bose/Apple lane—but for extreme workouts it still wasn’t unbeatable. My takeaway: pick based on your use case—CXK for crazy explosive training, Talix for daily use, and Shokz if you’re chasing high-end sound.
