These Edifier Bluetooth speakers are a budget-friendly way to add solid sound to a desk setup. I mainly use them for chill music while I work or for watching anime, and they’ve been more than good enough for that.
“hey guys welcome to the first video on my Channel today I'll be taking you through the entire process of me taking my desk setup from dreams to reality [Music] [Music] a lot of driving factors in my life kinda came together and pushed me to invest in a space that I would be excited to be in some of these factors included books that I was reading about habits Flow State deep work and creative thinking I also landed a new position as a supply chain manager in a high-paced venture startup environment which I work from home from and finally I've really started investing time into video editing for growing social media as well as my personal brand all in all I spend a solid 32 to 40 hours a week at a desk so for me designing an environment that feeds me energy versus takes became really really important in the end I had three goals in mind for the setup functionality Aesthetics and coziness I spent approximately two months planning this project out I started off by modeling in tinkercad which was a super beginner friendly 3D modeling software and on top of that it's free I really like the modern themes of gray wood tones and Greenery so I modeled those colors in to get an idea of what it might look like in real life I knew I wanted an L desk setup with the side desk allowing me to turn away from my monitors to focus on reading and just productivity in general that doesn't require a computer a key part of this setup that I had to plan out separately was the PC this is actually the first PC that I have ever built so thankfully I had a friend who is a Dev at Intel walked me through all the parts I needed and on top of that he helped me get my I9 for like 60 off so big shout out there if you guys are curious about my PC build like this video and if we get to 100 I'll do a video about it with the planning finished it was time to build honestly building this was very hectic as I had also just finished moving into this apartment so things were getting unpacked as well in all it took around about five days to completely put this together but eventually it was done and I'm super stoked with the way it turned out and now I get the pleasure of showing it off to you guys the table top is comprised of 255 by 28 wooden table tops that I got off Amazon from alpha business each one is a hundred and five dollars which for wooden table tops of this size pretty solid I then went to Ikea and bought eight adil's legs I think each leg goes for about eight dollars I spaced the leg mounts two inches from each corner and manually made some holes in the table top and boom overall love the color of the table top and the black legs give it a nice compliment after the tables were finished I decided to mount the monitors I am using two monitor stands the Juan wall ergonomic gas Spring Mount and the Wally mount with laptop Mount stand for monitors I'm rocking the scepter C30 curved Ultra wide and underneath that the Acer Nitro 25 inch and then the innovu 27 inch as my side vertical Monitor and then I also repurposed my older Asus zenpook Pro Duo laptop as another side monitor I love this layout and it gives me tons of room for productivity my ultra wide and 25 inch work great together for video editing or automation building projects for my full-time my side monitor helps me get a full view for coding during data analytics or for Discord with friends and then finally my laptop actually allows me to monitor the status of all the projects that I'm working on on a personal power bi dashboard that I created for myself the chair is probably one of my favorite parts of the setup I spent a lot of time deciding whether I wanted to go all out on a chair or save a little bit for now and upgrade later I opted for the latter solution the chair I have is the joy fly ergonomic chair that I got during Prime day for around 150 dollars and I think it's probably around 170 now personally I found this chair super comfortable gives pretty solid lower back support and has lots of customization options from being able to slide the seat forwards and back adjusting the armrests and the lean adjustments are all great options depending on whether I'm working chilling watching anime or playing video games I'm a little over five foot seven so the headrest area is also very comfy for me and is in just the right spot I wanted the setup to have a cozy Forest yet modern Vibe so that meant lighting also had to be warm in just the right amounts in my opinion the most important piece of lighting in this setup is the monitor light bar from alifo a lot of light bars I feel are overpriced but I was able to snag this one off of Amazon for forty dollars it has four temperature settings for intensity settings and auto dimming and while it does lack the range of customization compared to higher priced light bars I found that I really only use the warm light settings anyways so it works for me it helps reduce eye strain and sets a really nice mood around the immediate space that I sit at the second piece of lighting is the Lee hang slicers I got off of AliExpress these are much cheaper alternatives to the Nano Leaf lines they have similar build quality but I literally a fourth of the price I decided to get the black one since the black lines and my gray wallpaper complement each other really well and add to the modern feel to make the desk stand out a little bit I found these generic LED strips at Marshalls and stuck them onto the back of the desk the next two pieces of lighting are probably my favorite lighting Decor on the setup these lit up acrylic paintings one of my guy opening up online Gates and the second a representation of Drunken Fish Kung Fu the one that roughly uses in Naruto these paintings were done and given to me by a friend from my birthday years back and I finally found a great spot for them I put them on these LED light bases and at night these light up the artwork beautifully finally I got this dimmable RGB lamp this gives me enough lighting to read or write in the surrounding space [Music] what's a setup without some spice some decoration let's start with the wall shelves these are just simple wall shelves in the same Walnut color as my desk I got these from a company called Fix wall very creative they came with a set of eight for twenty six dollars the material is super light and definitely is cheap but I don't plan on putting anything heavy on these shelves and Aesthetics wise they are also perfect on top of the shelves are fake vines that my girlfriend wasn't using I simply cable clicked these to the top to ferment them from falling and I really like how it adds to the modern yet natural vibe on and around the shelves I have my vision board some Funko Pops two metal display posters and fake plants Behind The Vines and the monitors is the wallpaper that I use to cover what was previously a white wall I went with a gray wooden look wallpaper because my setup was already all darker colors so the gray was a great decision that provided a little bit of contrast for my books I got these very simple black metal book holders despite being very basic the color matches with everything else in the setup sometimes basic is the way to go finally probably one of the more interesting things on this desk is this levitating succulent a floating plant with no thoughts is honestly what I kind of aspire to be in my next life but it's also very nice to have next to me in my focus space now let's turn back to the main desk the keyboard I'm using is the techware Phantom Elite with 87 keys this pre-built keyboard is really great for people like me who are just getting into keyboards but don't know where to start it comes pre-modded with foam and sounds really good out of the box which is probably the biggest reason I got it well definitely mod this keyboard more in the future but for now it gets the job done for my mouse I'm using the Logitech super light Pro it's a very lightweight mouse that I use to do both gaming and get my work done I also picked up this charging stand for my super light and I'm pretty sure it's compatible with almost all Logitech gaming mice the speakers I'm using are the edifier Bluetooth speakers these were fairly budget at 60 dollars but the sound quality is actually pretty good and I really only use them to listen to some chill music or watch anime to charge my phone I have the nanami wireless charger the fast charging capability is nice and I did want something that could prop my phone up so I could also FaceTime family and friends while I work and finally for a desk Riser I actually used some of the leftover pieces from my hanging shelves stuck some wooden legs and wrap them in Gray wallpaper that I used for the wall I have a USB hub attached to the riser to connect to my work laptop underneath for organization I got these naptical desk drawers when you get them they actually come with two drawers a general large size drawer and a pencil drawer these drawers Have Been instrumental in me keeping my desk clutter free [Music] I feel like a lot of people dread cable management but it's actually not that bad the only thing I'd suggest is knowing roughly where you're going to place your power strip and making sure you get long cables it's better to have cables that are too long than Too Short since if they are long you can always just Loosely wrap them and then tie zip ties or twist ties around them for managing cables I considered getting the cable tray but knowing myself I would end up tossing everything in tangling them and making it really hard in the future to move them around so instead I bought a simple Cable Management set that comes with clips of different sizes I also reused a ton of twist ties that came with all the stuff that I bought for this setup such as the monitor mounts the PC parts Etc I velcroed the big pieces like the Chargers and the power strip to the bottom of the table and then from there I just wired everything either through the back of the table or use the cable management system that my monitor mounts came with to hide all the cables all the effort was definitely worth it despite having a ton of stuff on my desk my actual working surface is essentially cable free minus the keyboard [Music] at the time I have finished making this video has been about two weeks since I have been using the setup I'm so happy that I made this investment the setup has drastically improved my motivation focus and perception of work I wake up excited to be here and have found it a great place to build habits and Chase my dreams thank you guys for joining me on my desk setup and productivity Journey it may be the first time but definitely not the last you will see this desk I will update you guys as I make improvements and changes to my space but until then thanks for tuning in and I'll check you guys later [Music] thank you [Music]”
