A working BitLocker bypass for Windows 11 was published this week. A USB stick and a key combo open the encrypted drive without entering a password. The exploit is called YellowKey, released on May 12th by a researcher using the alias Nightmare-Eclipse — the same person who dropped three Microsoft Defender zero-days in April. The attack copies crafted files onto a USB stick, boots the locked machine into the Windows Recovery Environment, and drops to a command prompt with full read-write access to the drive. Independent researcher Kevin Beaumont confirmed it works. The researcher also claims the flaw was deliberately planted by Microsoft and that a PIN-working variant exists; other researchers told Cybernews the backdoor claim isn't verifiable from outside, and one independent tester found a BitLocker PIN blocked the public exploit. Microsoft hasn't acknowledged the bug.
