This is a short film shot on the Malibu coast entirely with the Fujifilm X-T5. I wanted to show a different perspective of a day on the Southern California coast. Typically in movies and TV shows, the beaches near LA and San Diego are shown mid-summer with bright sun- think of Barbie's portrayal of Venice Beach or Blonde's scene from El Matador in Malibu. People are often caught off guard by the fog and clouds that loom over the coast in the early summer. Writers like Raymond Chandler and James Cain used the dirty, dangerous underbelly of LA as a backdrop for their noir novels back in the 50s and 60s, so in much the same way, I wanted to see if I could use the less-celebrated side of LA weather as a backdrop in a story of my own. Since I have lived in LA during the spring and early summer months these last two years, I've become intimately familiar with the marine layer, and it's become synonymous with my memories in SoCal.
