Butterfly

I used the Butterfly SVG for both cardstock (cutting and engraving) and slate engraving. It was a nice way to show how the K10 can do clean thin cuts in cardstock and also produce a really nice engraved result on slate once the settings are dialed in. It’s a good all-around test file for this machine.

What Go Laser Go says

com there'll be a direct link in the description field below the next material we wanted to try was wood so we started with a coaster and we chose an image from creative Fabrica to use on it there'll be a link in the description field below to that along with all of the other files that we use in this video now this came out great as you can see here so we're very happy with the result so it was at this point that we figured we needed a positioning template of some sort so we got out a piece of card stock and we placed it on our tile and then popped the machine on it so that it lined up with the corner then in lightburn we created a box that was slightly smaller than the working area and engraved that onto the card stock now this worked great and it's helped us line up materials correctly our next test was on some popsicle sticks now Paula needed some plant labels for some herbs she's going to be planting so you can see how they're going here the sticks were too long to run horizontally so we turned them vertically instead and this worked out great I think we could have reduced the settings a little on these but they're only going in into the garden so they will be fine we also tested some wood tags and these came out great although I think the settings were a little too intense and could have been reduced a little card stock is something we use a lot for making cards and in our journals so we wanted to see how well this machine performed now we tried cutting a butterfly design and this worked out nicely it created a nice clean cut as you can see here we also engraved some card stock as well now when doing this choose darker colors lighter colors don't really come out very well but it will depend on the brand of the card stock used this came out great but like the MDF it does leave a lot of salort on the top so we just used a tissue and dabbed it on top a few times to remove it next we tried to engrave on an aluminium plate this did okay but it took around 1 and 1 half hours to complete personally I wouldn't wouldn't want to sit around waiting for that but it'll be okay on say a smaller dog tag now we thought we might try some slate next and we have inconsistent results with this for some reason as you can see here but then it seemed to all come together and work perfectly we used the same butterfly SVG that we used for the card stock but this time we engraved it and you can see how nicely this is engraving now this was our last piece of slate that we had before the next batch arrives so you can see those little squares everywhere as we were testing different settings but overall though this came out great the way luux K10 does have an offline modee now this is really useful if you have your machine in the garage and your computer's inside the machine has a TF card in the back that you can use for this so you save a file from lightburn as a G-Code file onto the card and then you pop it into the back of the machine then on the machine itself you press the offline button once which will frame your image on the material then if you press and hold the offline button for 3 seconds the machine will start engraving so that worked quite well now there are a few safety features that come with the way luux K10 first of all we have the safety Shield this protects your eyes from the laser when the laser is in motion if the shield is open it will automatically turn the machine off however when you close the LD again the laser will continue to engrave from where it left off so that's a really great feature there's also a tilt feature which will automatically turn the machine off when it tilts more than 13 to 15° if this happens you will need to restart the the machine there are a few accessories that you can purchase for this machine the first is an air purifier and what I really like is that the purifier we have for the way luux K8 machine works for this one as well so we're easily able to plug it in and use this machine indoors there's a rotary model now this would have been great to try out but unfortunately we didn't get one of these and this allows you to engrave on cylindrical items like drinking glasses and water bottles and there's an graving positioning module unfortunately we won't sent one of these either but this allows you to easily position your projects and it's particularly helpful if you're batch processing so let's talk about some of the pros of this machine now the machine is small and lightweight so you can easily move it around it doesn't take up much space when it's being stored and it works really well on wood MDF and card stock it's an inexpensive machine which would make it an ideal beginner machine for say teenagers or someone who just wants to enhance their crafting experience with laser engraving and when the cover is opened the machine turns off making it a great safety feature for young children and there are a few cons of course the smaller machine means that you cannot engrave on larger items and although you can place a machine on top of larger items to engrave on them you still only have a small engraving area it does cut but only thin materials so it is primarily used for Engraving you can't engrave on stainless steel although you can engrave on aluminum colored cards the way luux K10 is inexpensive and I feel this machine would suit a teenager or student or even a beginner who's just starting out with laser engraving so I hope you've enjoyed this video and if you did give us a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel and thank you so much for
