New reforms will see up to 20,000 fewer patients will have to go to A&E and 6000 fewer will be admitted to hospital each year. The NHS Modernisation Bill, which will be debated in Parliament today, will introduce the single patient record, allowing fragmented health information to be joined up around the country for the first time. The single patient record will mean all NHS providers - including hospitals and GPs - have to share data so the right doctors, nurses and specialists across England can securely see a patient’s medical history, no matter where they are treated. This is James Murray's first interview as the new health secretary on Good Morning Britain. Wes Streeting resigned from his role as the health secretary earlier this month, and wrote in his letter to Sir Keir Starmer that the PM had 'many great strengths that I admire' - as he declared that he had lost confidence in his leadership.
