Compensation for infected blood victims delayed by 'fears of fraudulent' claimants

Fewer than 1-in-5 victims of the infected blood scandal have received compensation with questions being raised over the impact of 'fraudulent' claims on the speed of the process. There is still significant frustration over the slow progress and long delays in receiving compensation with many victims and families describing the process as “the world’s longest queue.” Only 3,000 people have received compensation, a fraction of those that were infected. A special service for those affected by the scandal is being held at St Paul's Cathedral. Over 1,000 people from the community are expected to attend alongside senior politicians.
