I literally just dropped into New York City, and no, I didn’t move here “randomly.” I relocated because I got a new job as a software engineer at Google—my team is based in NYC and they covered my relocation. In this vlog I’m still settling into my new apartment (first time living alone, so if I do dumb stuff… keep it moving), and I’m also processing the reality of NYC: the hype, but also the subway rats, dirt, and all the downsides I was thinking about for the longest time. I walk you through a real day-in-the-life mix: my simple skincare + breakfast, then what I do on my Google team at a high level (I can’t get too specific or I’ll get fired). I’m on a machine learning team connected to Google Search/ads, and I explain why I work weekends sometimes—model training takes forever, so I run experiments over the weekend so results are ready by Monday. You’ll also see my setup (two laptops, one plug, hubs to switch between devices), a little NYC exploring, and a restaurant invite at Nari. To end it off, I talk about why I’m doing a part-time CS master’s even with a job: after the initial learning curve, it’s easy to plateau. Right now I’m learning path planning (game dev vibes), and it’s honestly surreal remembering how close I was to quitting CS in undergrad.
