In EP19 I take you inside a D1 road trip to San Diego State from my perspective as the Creative Director for Colorado State Athletics. We’re flying private (so no bus photos, straight tarmac), and I’m living on my Sony 35mm G Master for those travel hero frames—sun peeking behind the plane, clean body positioning, and that wing sitting perfectly in the background. I’m also making a bigger effort to diversify the gallery with more group moments, because it tells the trip story way better than only chasing singles (even though I’m always going to chase those hero shots too). Once we hit Viejas Arena, the checklist is stacked: strong photos first, a Rams Live interview with Coach Dave second, and then some video experimenting. I’m grabbing B-roll during shootaround, then I run-and-gun my first real sports video in like 4 years with a quick turnaround—simple concept, cinematic slow-mo, and it delivered what we needed. Game day I’m adding tunnel flash, testing an 11mm fisheye for variety, and leaning into the arena’s clean lighting to push shutter higher without blasting ISO. Almost everything you see is edited with my Frizzy Pack Volume 1 presets, and I break down how that preset look stays consistent across travel, warmups, action, and portraits.
