We cover all the similarities, differences, ride impressions, what we like, what could be improved, and which model is the better choice depending on your needs. If you’re deciding between the LR and SR, this comparison will help you find the right fit. What’s Covered in This Review: • Full walkthrough of both models • Similarities in components, motor, battery, brakes, tech, and design • Key differences in wheelbase, rack size, accessories, storage, and weight • Ride impressions for stability, handling, speed, and comfort • Braking test results • What we like about Aventon’s new Abound lineup • What Aventon could improve • Why Andrew prefers the LR and why I prefer the SR • Best use cases for each cargo ebike Aventon Abound LR vs SR – Quick Breakdown Similarities: Both models use the same 750W motor (1188W peak), the same battery across Aventon’s new lineup, metal fenders, integrated lights with turn signals, 20x3-inch tires, 8-speed Shimano drivetrain, hydraulic brakes, BMX-style handlebars, 50mm front suspension, seatpost suspension, color display, and throttle. Both include torque sensor and cadence sensor modes, Aventon’s 4G IoT security and tracking features, and the same Aventon app functionality. Differences: • Wheelbase: LR is 53 inches, SR is 45 inches (8-inch difference) • Rack size: LR is 29 inches, SR is 22 inches • Weight: LR is 88 lb, SR is 80 lb • Cargo capacity: LR fits more passengers and gear • Accessories: LR includes footboards; SR requires add-on pegs • Seats: SR uses a more comfortable Selle Royale saddle • Storage: LR includes a lockable center pouch • Colors: SR comes in more color options • Ride feel: LR is more stable at speed; SR is more agile and easier to maneuver What We Like: Aventon’s security and tracking features stand out, including geofencing, shutdown protection, and ride tracking. The ability to swap between torque and cadence sensing is a strong advantage. The gravity cast frame gives both bikes a clean, weld-free look. Aventon’s dealer network provides better support and service availability than most competitors. What Could Be Improved: The front fender bolts are too short and made from soft metal, which makes them easy to strip. The front suspension bottoms out on larger bumps or curbs. The seatpost is too short for riders between 6 feet and 6 foot 3. The LR packaging could be more robust to prevent shipping damage. Which Bike Is Best for You: Aventon Abound LR: Ideal for families, carrying multiple kids, or transporting heavier cargo. More stable at higher speeds and supports more accessories like the full handrail. Aventon Abound SR: Better for smaller spaces, tighter garages, urban riding, and anyone who values agility and a smaller footprint. Still carries plenty of cargo without the bulk of the LR. We read every comment, so let us know which model you would choose: the LR or the SR. Thanks for watching, and always wear safety gear when you ride.
