The Countries Impacted Most by Oil Market Disruptions

Ken Fisher, Founder, Executive Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Fisher Investments, reviews which countries are most affected by oil market disruptions. Ken explains that when events like the current Middle East conflict drive oil prices higher, investors often turn their attention to the most vulnerable regions. Ken notes that while the United States—the world’s largest oil producer and exporter—is less impacted, Europe’s reliance on oil imports suggests it would be more sensitive. However, as Ken points out, Europe’s free-market economy, along with its natural gas and domestic oil production capabilities, makes it no more dependent than many other countries.
