In a world that keeps moving faster and faster, where it’s increasingly hard to be mindful of the present moment and free ourselves from the constant flux of notifications and digital inputs, artist Ryan Gander has an antidote to this mad race. His imaginative recipe is based on the notion that time and attention are our most precious assets. In his Dream Space, we practise a minimalist lifestyle inspired by a sort of suburban Shinto Buddhism, we spend time wandering without a destination or goal in the video game land of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and we can use a switch to be alone or in other’s company. Ryan Gander is a British artist - he defines himself as ‘a sort of neo-conceptual no-style-style amateur philosopher’ - based in Suffolk. Over the last couple of decades, he’s created an internationally-revered body of artworks ranging from sculpture, apparel and writing to architecture, painting, and performance questioning the themes of language, time and knowledge.
