Browsers used to be invisible to me—just the thing that got me to the internet. But after testing three “AI browsers” side-by-side for 3 months (hands-on, real workflows, not sponsored), it’s obvious we’re moving into a totally different way of working. In this video I break down what actually matters: research, personalization, and productivity—because most of the hype comes from people who haven’t lived in these tools day-to-day. First, I tested Comet, which is the clearest look at the future. It can summarize pages, compare products, and—most importantly—go agentic (click, scroll, fill forms). It’s not perfect (it’s slow and misclicks), but on clunky sites it’s genuinely useful. The “brain” is Perplexity, which I trust more than Google for research because it gives answers plus sources. Then there’s ChatGPT Atlas, which is less about research and more about memory: if you’re already deep in ChatGPT, Atlas feels like the evolution of the desktop app—personal, familiar, and great for writing/brainstorming, but its agent mode underperformed Comet in our tests. Finally, I looked at Dia, built by the team behind Arc. Arc’s sidebar is still how I stay organized, and Dia is trying to bring that productivity workflow back while layering in lightweight AI via “Skills” (quick slash-command automations). My real setup today: Arc for focus + Atlas for writing + Comet for research—until one browser merges all three strengths.
