Motion is a real example of how we think about seed-stage investing: strong founders, a real product in market, and a clear wedge into a massive existing platform (it’s effectively a layer on top of Google Calendar/Office 365). We liked that it wasn’t just an idea—there was an MVP and traction—and the founding team composition mattered (engineering-heavy teams tend to have more resilience when things get hard). Also, I learned the hard way what being a value-add investor is and isn’t through Motion.
