About This Video

Today’s video is a bit different—more of a behind-the-scenes studio update than a full aquascape build. I’m getting the space ready for what’s coming next, starting with sorting lighting for the cube shelf. I’m using a Superfish Scaper LED (RGB version) and rigging it so one light can cover a couple of small cube tanks. I’m basically cable-tying and hooking it in place so it stays centred and I can lift it right up out of the way—maximising the height between the water line and the underside of the light. Then I prep my 60cm tank (60 across, 40 tall, 40 front-to-back) and finally get a proper background on it before it goes into position. I show my easiest method: lay the glass you’re applying to facing up, clean it properly, mist it with water, and use that water to let the film “slip and slide” into perfect alignment. After that it’s all about squeegeeing out water and bubbles, then trimming with a fresh sharp blade using the tank edge as a guide. The big takeaway: don’t rely on “neatening up” at the end—your first cut matters most, and keeping the manufacturer’s clean edge on the most visible side makes life way easier.
