In this video I’m reviewing the Edifier MR3 studio monitor speakers, and I’ve been using them as my go-to audio solution at my desk since they dropped late last year. From the jump, they exceeded my expectations—like, I’m not the type to throw around “game changer,” but these got pretty close for a budget desk setup. I break down the design (those copper accents look super classy), the size (they’re compact and perfect for a small studio/home office), and the overall build with the MDF housing that still feels solid while staying lightweight. I also walk through all the controls and connections: the multifunction front knob, LED status light, front 3.5mm aux and headphone jack, plus TRS and RCA on the back. I’ve got mine connected to an audio interface via balanced TRS, and I love that you also get physical bass/treble tuning knobs without needing the app. Bluetooth 5.4 is a nice bonus too—especially the ability to connect two devices and switch quickly—though I’ll be real, I mostly stick to the physical controls. Sound-wise, they’re shockingly good for the price: precise, consistent, and detailed, with a clear strength in the mids for voices. Bass isn’t dominant (which can actually be a plus for monitoring), highs are clean but not the best at separating super fine details, and I’m usually around 50% volume with no distortion. If you want an affordable upgrade from laptop/monitor speakers for a smaller desk setup, I genuinely think the MR3s punch way above their price point.
