Should have waited.

What a day to dive. After checking online and noting unfavorable dive conditions, with projected 3-5ft surf and lower winds in the morning, I identified a potential sheltered dive location. I contacted Matt (aka Mr. California), and we headed to Palos Verdes with the intention of hunting for lobsters. Despite my initial optimism about finding protection from the surf at a specific point, we encountered strong surf and currents that surpassed our expectations. Optimistic, we decided to give it a try in the hopes of discovering a diveable spot, but unfortunately, our efforts were in vain. After approximately 50 minutes, we had to call off the dive. I felt regretful for inviting Matt under such challenging conditions, serving as a reminder to thoroughly assess conditions before planning future dives. Shorediving tip: If you choose to venture into more challenging sea conditions, ensure you time your entry to coincide with a lull in the breaking waves. Wait for a period when the waves are not as large.
