For my second lobster dive of the season, I geared up and set out from Newport for a day of bug hunting underwater. The conditions weren't perfect, but they met my minimum criteria for heading out. Typically, I rely on surf conditions as my primary indicator to decide whether a shore dive is worth it. Personally, I prefer to dive when the surf is 1-2 feet or less. However, on this particular dive, the surf measured 2-3 feet, which made entry and exit a bit tricky. Despite the challenging surf conditions, the visibility underwater was decent. The only issue was the heavy surge, which made it challenging to stay in one place when reaching for lobsters. Nevertheless, I had a great time and managed to secure one lobster before calling it a day.
