“Ireland and Irish music is like a breath of fresh air to me” In an interview with the Embassy in London, JC Stewart chronicles an inspiring journey of growth that takes him from the countryside of County Derry to performing at some of London’s most iconic stages. Stewart speaks about how he finds connections with home whilst living and touring outside of Ireland and reflected on the influence of Trad music, a genre of Irish folk music, as particularly grounding for him. His music is powerful, both reflecting his journey as an artist, but also from the contemplative themes in his work an Irish person overseas. To JC, music helps him transcend boundaries, comparing hearing and feeling Irish music overseas to the “big deep breath” of fresh air you take after landing on Irish soil.
