Introducing a new 6 part series on how to longboard. In part 1 we talk about how learning how to longboard can be intimidating. Most people get a longboard, learn a couple tricks, then plateau because of fear or simply not knowing what to work on. Over the past couple years I’ve been on mission to develop a different approach to learning how to longboard. An approach that takes the average longboarder and gets them to a point where they’re comfortable enough to rip around town, bust out some tricks, and show off their own unique style in confidence. This approach is the foundation behind how I learn new longboard tricks/combos, how I limit injuries, and how I consistently get into my zone and equip myself mentally to do this every single day I get out, grab my board, and ride. This approach is something I’ve been calling the “Foundation for Flow”. This is a tactical approach to improving where the focus is put on learning 100s of combos and variations rather than just focusing on each new and different trick. Fact is, most people treat learning how to skate like climbing a ladder where each rung is a new trick. The problem with that is that once you get stuck and can’t quite reach the next rung (trick), you’re STUCK and become demotivated. Interested in taking your longboarding to the next level?
