I use Simple Green to clean up the area after scraping because I want the surface as clean as possible before new sealant goes down. It’s great for cutting grime and grease, but I don’t treat it like a magic sealant remover. The big thing is: don’t leave cleaner residue—wipe/rinse and then do your final prep.
Pros

- +Easy to apply with a rag and wipe down
- +Helps you start with a cleaner bonding surface
Cons
- -Not meant to remove sealant by itself
- -Needs to be wiped off thoroughly so it doesn’t interfere with adhesion
