Do I Even Need Purple? Rethinking My Watercolour Palette Get brushes and signed copies of my books here! https://dewintonpaperco.etsy.com Purple is one of those colours that often sits untouched in a watercolour palette — which made me start wondering whether I even needed it at all. In this video I’m talking through that question honestly, and sharing what made me reconsider the role purple plays in my painting. I discuss how purple behaves in mixes, the kinds of subjects where it quietly becomes invaluable, and why it can sometimes feel unnecessary if you’re used to mixing it from blues and reds instead. I’ll also share what changed my mind, how (or if) I use purple now, and what this taught me about being more intentional with colour choices. If you’ve ever looked at your palette and questioned whether a colour really earns its place, I hope this video helps you feel more confident questioning — and refining — your own. Let me know in the comments: do you keep a purple on your palette, or do you prefer to mix it when you need it? 💜 Become a Youtube member!
