Choosing Oranges for Your Watercolour Palette (I Only Use Two) Oranges often feel like a “nice to have” colour in a watercolour palette — something you can always mix, but also something that can be incredibly useful to have ready to go. In this video I’m talking about how many shades of orange you really need, and why I’ve chosen to work with just two: Pyrrol Orange and Permanent Orange. I share how these two oranges differ in warmth, strength and mixing behaviour, and how together they cover everything from glowing autumn tones to subtle neutrals and warm shadows. I also talk about when I reach for an orange straight from the pan instead of mixing one, and how limiting your palette can actually make your colour choices clearer and more cohesive.
