Today I’m softly whisper-reading through 1 Peter and 2 Peter as part of my New Testament reading series. I start with a gentle opening prayer, asking the Lord to give you what you came here seeking—peace, rest, security, healing, or sleep—and that as I read, our hearts would be softened and God’s presence would be made manifest. Then I move chapter by chapter through 1 Peter 1–5 and 2 Peter 1–3, keeping the pace slow and calming so you can truly rest in God’s Word. In 1 Peter, I read so much encouragement for weary hearts: our “lively hope” in Jesus, the call to be holy, to love one another fervently, and to cast all our care upon Him because He cares for us. In 2 Peter, I read about growing in grace—adding virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, and love—and being stirred up “by way of remembrance” to stay steady in truth. I end with Bible tapping and a simple blessing, praying you can find deep rest for your soul and go to sleep in peace.
