This is the year of the #daddykirbsdreambarn . In this video we are clearing and preparing the land for the dream barn. Here in Texas, at least in my area of Texas, we have heavy black clay soil that is not good to build on without a lot of prepping. Normally here we have to take out at least 30 inches of clay soil where the foundation goes. This hole is then filled with crushed gravel, compacted and watered in. This gives a much more stable foundation for the foundation. The trenches for the concrete footers are dug into the crushed gravel and formed up on top. While we have the CASE TR270 Skid Steer tractor we clear out the fence line and build up some berms to help keep the water flowing where it should naturally flow instead of flooding out my new dream barn. My son did a real nice job on that Skid Steer tractor… like a pro even with almost no practice before today.
