Designing a knife is not as straight forward as it looks! Knife making is a step by step process and drawing out the profile is step #1. Getting what's in your head, to look and feel like an actual knife takes practice. I also then transfer that drawing to a piece of MDF so you can see and feel the knife cheaply before committing to the steel! If you just grab a piece of paper and draw a knife, it's likely you'll come out with something that looks kinda weird! I know this because that's what I did (and still do if I'm not really sure where I want to go with a new design). Doing that gets you thinking about all the details, ratios, measurements and shaping that you just take for granted when using knives in the kitchen of out camping. In this video I'm having a chat about my process, researching and getting pencil to paper.
