I got this citronella (mosquito) plant for our bedroom balcony because we’ve had mosquitoes and the smell is supposed to repel them. It arrived in a small pot with very light soil, so it kept falling over in the wind, but once I repotted it into a bigger pot and added more soil, it grew a lot bigger.
“Hi guys welcome back to Craft and Cook Today I want to show you the plants that I bought from Shopee I was quite excited to make full use of our balcony after we moved in and so I thought it would be a good idea to try buying some plants from Shopee instead of going down to the nursery ourselves then we also don't have to worry about transporting the plants back home I found this shop on Shopee that had pretty good reviews so I decided to buy a curry plant, pandan plant, and citronella plant, which is also known as a mosquito plant Apparently the smell of this plant repels mosquitos so we got it to put it in our bedroom balcony because there have been some mosquitoes here The plants arrived wrapped in plastic like this and they were delivered within 3 to 4 days Overall they were in pretty good condition although some of the leaves were a bit misshapen because of how the plastic was packaged but after removing the plastic and letting the plant settle in over the next few days they turned out quite okay The mosquito plant was potted in quite a small pot and the soil was very light so the plant kept getting knocked over on windy days so I ended up repotting it into a bigger pot and adding more soil to it so that it won't be top heavy and since then it has really grown a lot bigger as well the curry plant was quite hardy and I just repotted it into some fresh soil It has put out a lot of new leaves since then and we did use a bit of it to cook some salted egg chicken once Then for the pandan plant it didn't look so good in the first couple of days and its leaves started to turn yellow Turns out I wasn't watering it enough although I watered it every 2 to 3 days but apparently Pandan plants needs a lot of water so that one died really quickly and that's quite sad but I did get another pandan plant after this and I learned from my mistake and started watering it daily so since then it has been flourishing We've used the pandan leaves to make green bean soup, tang yuan and even kaya so that's been really useful to have the plant here with us, so that we can hover some fresh leaves whenever we need it So these are all the plants that we have for now and we bought even more from the new Far East Flora HQ in Clementi I did a video on that previously so check that out if you're interested Thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video Bye”
