This time I did it right – I brought in the back hoe and several loads of fill and rocks to expand the track, raise the back lane, and install drainage. More below, don’t forget to sub! | http://bit.ly/therccave | Originally my 1/8 scale RC track was about 150 meters around with 4-meter wide lanes, banked corners, a single jump, and two sets of double jumps. This project makes it 300 meters around, adds more jumps, and fixes the problems I had with the original track. If you’re thinking of making your own RC track, here are some tips: - Use the natural lay of the land (slopes are natural ramps!) to avoid having to fill. Fill is a ton of work! - Use the materials that are on hand and cheap. I can’t get black corrugated tubing most tracks use for lane dividers, but I do access to free used tires, cheap fill dirt, and cheap machinery! - Make a temporary layout and do lots of test runs and be patient! You don’t want to have to redo anything… - Plan your drainage! Try to make ramps perpendicular and not parallel to your slope, otherwise you’ll end up with a bunch of lakes! - Ask your friends for help, you’re going to need it!
