About This Video

In this video I break down what “vibe coding” actually means and how you can use Cursor IDE to build faster with AI. The term was coined by Andrej Karpathy, and the core idea is simple: use code-generation models for quick prototyping—especially for weekend-project style builds. I walk you through the vibe-coding loop I personally follow: define requirements clearly (this is the make-or-break step), let the AI generate the first output, test it, refine what’s missing or buggy, and then iterate until you’re happy. I also quickly map the landscape of tools—fully AI-integrated IDEs like Cursor vs extensions like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot. Then we get hands-on: I vibe code a Weather App using Next.js + React and the OpenWeather API. I create a requirements.md (instead of dumping everything into chat), feed it to Cursor Agent mode, choose a model, and let the agent scaffold the project, implement API integration, create UI components (dark theme included), and generate a solid README. I also show how Cursor agents can run terminal commands like npm install with your confirmation. Finally, we iterate by adding a basic animated background based on weather conditions. The big takeaway: you can go from 0→10 insanely fast, but going 10→100 still needs human oversight—testing, observability, scaling, logging, security, and performance—so no, AI isn’t “replacing” software engineers.
