Retrieval Practice Produces More Learning than Elaborative Studying with Concept Mapping (Karpicke & Blunt, 2011)
I referenced this because it backs up what I keep saying: testing yourself (retrieval practice) beats “pretty” studying like highlighting or summarising. It’s a really solid piece of evidence that active recall helps you learn more efficiently and actually perform better when it counts.
