About This Video

In this video I break down how dog trainers can turn what they already know into leads by writing a book—even if you’re dyslexic, hate writing, or don’t think you’re “an author.” I show you my own book (Dog Training Cheat Codes) and explain why I wrote it: a book instantly builds authority. You become “the author,” and in a competitive niche like dog training, that’s a simple way to stand out without spending years trying to be louder than everyone else. The big mistake I see is trainers trying to sit down and write without planning. I tell the story of a trainer who wasted months because he didn’t outline first and kept thinking his content was “too simple.” My process is to start with the table of contents: pick a tight niche (reactivity, puppies, etc.), list every question your ideal client would ask to get the result, then organize those questions into chapters and sub-chapters. From there, writing gets easy—answer one question per day, even by talking it out and editing later. Finish with a clear call-to-action (review, share, reach out, or book training) so the book actually drives business.
