I tested the Algo Laser Alpha MK2 as a first-time laser engraver user and I was genuinely blown away by how easy it was to assemble, focus, and start engraving straight from the touchscreen. It handled coated metal and plywood well, and the air assist plus simple controls made it feel like a proper bit of workshop kit rather than a toy.
Pros

- +Emergency stop button and key lock for safety
- +Air assist is adjustable and helps with smoke/debris
- +Engraves coated metal cleanly and cuts/engraves plywood
Cons
- -Wood engraving creates smoke, so you need good ventilation (and ideally an enclosure/fan)
- -Plywood glue layers can melt/stick a bit and may need sanding after engraving
