In this video, I’m sharing what I wish I had known about building rapport—and what I’ve learned after teaching 3,400+ VIPKID classes. I answer the big questions I hear all the time: Is it really that important to get to know your student? Do personal connections actually matter in an online classroom? And does rapport affect bookings? In my experience, the answer is a big YES. I talk through why relationships aren’t “extra” in VIPKID—they’re part of what makes you memorable to families and helps you feel more confident as a teacher. When you take time to connect, your classroom feels smoother, your student is more engaged, and you’re not just racing through slides—you’re actually teaching a human. I also share encouragement for anyone who feels unsure about how to do this (especially in the beginning), and I remind you that you can absolutely learn these skills with practice.
