Spring always arrives for me in a very specific way—quietly, a little moody, and full of botanicals. In this setup, I’m doing a seasonal reset across both my Hobonichi and my memory-keeping system: a full cover change, a fresh pocket refresh, and a small ritual of making my tools feel like they belong to the next few months. I switch my Hobonichi A5 Cousin cover from Tokyo National Museum: Hasegawa Tōhaku – Pine Forest (which is basically the perfect winter atmosphere) to the Tolight: Garden of Botany cover—dark purples, a subtle check, and painterly florals that feel like a slightly gothic spring. Choosing a spring cover wasn’t straightforward this year. The Detective Conan: Case Closed cover tempted me, but it read more autumnal than spring, and I also considered older mina perhonen designs like Jelly Beans + Tambourine for that pastel, landscape-like softness. In the end, I wanted something more atmospheric. This Tolight cover houses my Cloth & Paper spiral-bound planner, which I now divide by season so I can actually make space for ephemera, journaling, and memory keeping without the bulk of a full-year setup. I coordinate the spiral wire colour, customize the cover with winter memories in a crossword-style layout, then add a spring embellishment with a slightly spooky floral touch—beautiful, functional, and story-forward.
