In this video I’m making the cutest little chubby resin butterflies, and the fun part is I’m doing it by combining two different molds. I started with a chubby caterpillar body mold and poured it with colorful Bond Craftor resin, then I grabbed some plain butterfly wings and decided to dress them up with a mix of inclusions. Once I had the look I wanted, I joined the wings to the chubby body so it actually reads like a “chubby butterfly” instead of just two separate pieces. If you’ve ever looked at a mold and thought, “That’s cute, but it needs something,” this is exactly that kind of project. My big takeaway is you don’t have to be stuck with what a mold gives you—mixing molds, layering details, and playing with inclusions can totally change the final vibe. I also keep it real as I go, because experimenting is part of the process, and sometimes the best ideas happen right in the middle of a pour.
