In this video, I break down one of the most commonly used tools among newer coaches: the scaling question. You’ve likely heard it before, “On a scale of 1–10…” or “On a scale of 1–5…”, and while it can be useful, it’s not always the right choice. I share when the scaling question actually helps deepen a coaching conversation and when it can derail the flow or oversimplify what the client is trying to work through. Using a real example involving a coaching agreement, I walk you through how to think about this tool more strategically so you elevate your coaching practice and support your clients more effectively.
